Swim For A Mile is an initiative that was introduced by Swim Ireland in 2014 and has been growing ever since with the aim of encouraging people to get back into the pool and become confident life-long swimmers. The programme has become so popular that it has been recently expanded to allow 12 to 16 year olds to participate and to also include a half mile option. The training programme which entails ten weeks of training has been written by Swim Ireland coaches to enable those who can swim a little to swim a mile in just 10 week’s, and it works!
On Friday evening, April 13th, a lot of brave people will be taking on Swim Ireland’s annual ‘Swim for a Mile Challenge’ event here at The Watershed and for this reason our pool will close at 3.30pm for our swimming lessons and will not re-open until Saturday morning.
We wish all participants the very best of luck on Friday, you are all amazing, just go for it!
